I went natural about 6 months ago and I all I've gotten is hate and animosity for it. People were saying things like "You need a perm to comb out those naps" or "you look like an African" I find it dissapointing that most of the people who were making the slick comments were Black folks. i want to straighten it out again because men don't even look at me anymore and they ignore me now. Even my dad has said that I was more attractive with longer and straight hair. I'm so depressed and I feel ugly.

It's all about image these days. Skinny girls, certain fashions, etc. Wear your hair how YOU feel comfortable, but don't let it get too messy, because in ANY culture that's just a no-no. You don't have to "fit-in" anywhere, just do what you feel looks nice on you, regardless if other people agree or not. Remember: you're not going to have the same hairstyle for the rest of your life, so it's always good to try new things!

I actually find the reaction of your peers and dad shocking. Here being in your natural hair is as normal has having soap in your bathroom.... extensions are expensive.

I think that is really stupid, everyone is so set that long straight hair is beautiful. I guess it is the same thing with wearing make-up, natural faces aren't considered attractive you have to enhance them. Honestly do your hair however you want to do it, whatever you like best. Those other people who are trying ot bring you down are just brainwashed like everyone else to think skinny, big breasts, long straight hair, and wearing lots of make up is attractive. I really appreciate African culture, most women there are so natural, so comfortable with their looks. We could lal take a lesson from them.
