I haven't had a relaxer put in my hair in 2 months?

I put a relaxer in my hair 5 days ago and now it seems like everytime I comb my hair lots of it comes out ? Is this normal or is this a sign that the relaxer is making it fall out? I oil my hair and scalp daily.

I had my hair fall out before, too. It could be that the relaxer was left in too long before washing it out your hair or the relaxer was too strong or you are accidently letting the cream touch the hair that has already been relaxed leaving it more fragile- it could be anything! I have used so many relaxers that the best home one that works for me with no damage is Optimum by Soft Sheen. I absolutely LOVE it! This is what I suggest you do (I speak from experience): Get a good trim from the salon and let them wash it and straighten it to get it back looking good. Now, if you prefer to keep it up at home like I do (it gets expensive going to the shop every week). I wash my hair once a week with either Pantene Shampoo and Conditioner for women of color (or try Aveda Brilliant Shampoo and Conditioner). Leave the conditioner in your hair for 5 mins. Next, I use Aveda Damage Remedy Intensive Restructuring Treatment (ebay the big bottle to save $$). I leave that in my hair for 15-20 mins. I wash it out. Try to stick with a ceramic straightner (like CHI) bc it is less damaging to your hair. Make sure you protect your hair when blowdrying it or flat ironing it or curling it with the curling iron. I use Motions Heat Protecting Spray or Avede Brilliant Damage Control along with Isoplus Oil Sheen. Good luck!

it could be that or that the relaxer you put in your hair was to strong for your hair

Man, that's horrible. I would say that maybe you got a bad relaxer and it didn't take well on your hair. Usually hair will break off b/c of the difference in textures when you have a lot of new growth and are due for another relaxer. However, since you got one and now it's falling out, maybe it was over processed, or it just didn't take well.

Well, are you white or black? I hope you're black b/c whites don't use perms. Maybe your hair is too thin for perms. Was this your first perm? If so, then don't worry. All first perms make your hair shed a little. It's nothing b/c your hair will get used to the perms. You should relax every other month. I have thick hair so I perm every month. Hope I helped.

It could be the relaxer. Do you rinse your hair well after and apply the necessary conditioners?? that could be a problem.

Oh, some of us white people have frizzy hair and go the perm/relaxer route as well.

When you comb your hair, if you see a white bulbous tip on the end of the hair, that's hair from the root and could indeed indicate that your hair is falling out. More likely though, you won't see the white bulbous tip and that hair is breaking off from a mid or end point instead of literally falling out of your scalp. Please see a licensed beautician who is sensitive to the needs of hair that is relaxed and they should be able to appropriately assess the condition of your hair and help to correct any damage done. Good luck!

The relaxer could of been the wrong strength. Was your hair damage before you applied the relaxer? Did you apply the relaxer on your roots or the entire head? If you did the entire head your hair is over processed. You where only suppose to do the new growth.
