...Any idea of who can help?

There's a really bad case of poverty in our community, especially in Thermal CA ("Las Palmitas Elementary School")...These poor children are wearing the same T-shirts with holes, their families have no money for food - let alone basics like toothbrushes, hair combs, etc. During the winter, they don't have jackets to wear and no thick shoes either. I want to make a difference for these children, but I have no idea where to start. Does anyone have any clue? I'm at a loss %26amp; overwhelmed @ the moment...

Contact your local Rotary or Rotaract Club. They often help with causes like this, if they know there is a need in their local community.

You can locate Rotary Clubs in your local area at http://www.rotary.org/support/clubs/inde... or for Rotaract email rotaract@rotary.org

You could kill yourself, then you wouldn't care or have any knowledge of what happens, ever again. Just a thought though :)

Notify The Salvation Army or local churches. You could set up a collection point at elementary schools to collect out grown but still wearable kids' clothes, toys, books, etc. That would be a very worthy thing to do.

You and maybe a friend or two can start collecting items from others willing to donate. Clothes etc. is a good start.

well, first my hat off to you, your compassion is beautiful. as far as the answer: well, the little i know: you could start with a proposal:

1) name the project

2) describe the project: example: This project is to provide basic necessities (like toothbrushes) to the children of Las Palmitas. the more detailed you are, the better. the more eloquent, the more interested people will be.

3) time frame (sort of a schedule where you will develop phases according to time limitations) because investors will want to see results (they don't want to invest in something they cannot show off or something that will never see the light)

4) The budget (the most important) because you are going to tell these investors what you intend to do with their money, to justify the amount of money you are asking, to prove you are someone who has a dream but also a plan.

.... This is a rough outline. you should check samples of these proposals to make sure. at the same time, you should contact "The Foundation Center" up in NY where you can find all kind of important info regarding raising money, NGOs, .... and companies or particulars who fund projects such as this one. it is a very long and painful process. my ex did one for another type of project. it was tough but very rewarding. i know that in her case, she did not have to have an NGO or to claim non-commercial purposes. in your case, it sounds like it could make things easier for yourself if you establish yourself as a non- for profit organization. it sounds complicated but it is just a little of bureaucracy stuff, forms to fill out,... buena suerte
