Get a wide toothed comb for combing it when its wet. %26amp; if you need it, put some conditioner in a spray bottle with mostly water as a cheap tangle spray.

And I hate to say the "cut" word, but your gonna need to trim the ends quite a bit. That way you won't tear out or break as much hair when you comb it. Plus it will look better as it grows out without the fried ends.

you need to go to Sally's beauty supply store and buy a weekly deep conditioner. apply it after you shampoo, cover with a shower cap and leave on for 20 minutes! and don't wash your hair every day maybe every other day. when you condition your hair normally leave it in for 3-5 minutes before you rinse it so the steam from the shower can push it into your hair shaft. and always comb through with fingers while conditioner is in. use shine serum before you blow dry or use any thermal appliances on your hair!!! good luck hope this helps you

I have slightly wavy, layered shoulder length hair. But on my left side, theres this unnatural bend in my hair, which looks really weird cos its flat on top, curved in the middle then staight again at the ends. I'm twelve years old, and I never bothered to brush my hair. It's like a really really dark brown and when wet (or just pulled really hard) it goes down almost (ALMOST) halfway down my back. First of all brush it before you get in the shower. When you brush just grab small sections at a time. It will take a while but it will be worth it. Then use a really good cleansing shampoo. Scrub it into your roots (not with your nails, fingers!!!). Then Condition. When you come out of the shower GENTLY squeeze your hair with a towel. That will get water out of it and make it dry a little faster because the towel absorbs moisture. Dont rub though! That will make hair frizzy!!! Now after that, comb your hair. The conditioner should have made it easy to comb/brush. Dont brush your hair when its wet, its not healthy for your hair. Then put a frizz control serum or hair lotion on your hair and apply it lightly. Too much will make your hair greasy. Then let it air dry or blowdry however you like and it should be soft and easy to brush...Just ALWAYS brush your hair everyday. Otherwise it gets Tangly.

brushing your hair too much strips it of its natural oils (which it needs) and id shampoo everyother day(still using conditioner)... it sounds likeyou just have dry hair that need to be taken care of better...

first of all, its very important to brush your hair. when you don't that gets it even more tangled. i have very curly, curly hair, and my hair goes to my middle back. what i do is when you take a shower, use a lot of shampoo and conditioner. when washing your hair, comb through it with your hands. as soon as you get out of the shower, brush your hair for about 15 minutes. it may hurt when you brush but thats suppose to happen. you need to get all the tangles out and make sure that your hair is healthy. i hope i helped, and you can email me for more information!

When I had dreads, it broke at about 4 inches. If you want long straight hair, you really just have to stick to wearing a hat or cover when you sleep and being careful about it getting wet since you may be using chemicals to straighten it.

Personally, No. I doesn't help. Yes it makes most of us lot cutier and more boys like us because we have long fake hair. But really, you can get bumps from them being to tight, and it breaks of your hair especailly with small braids (micros) and when you use rubber bands at the ends. Also, burning it is not the best thing to do because you may burn your real hair by mistake then lose all of your hair. It also my make you bald. That happend to a girl that I go to school with. My advice: Wrap you hair often. French braid it (one big braid not tight), Comb it (not to much), Brush it 100x a day, read Black Hair Magazines for more information.

as for the flat iron, i have no clue. i keep being told that any heat on your hair thins it and breaks it...we just cant win. i guess its best to be under a beautician, who can look out for the well-being of your hair. If you got under a good beautician, your hair would be healthy and it would grow like you would not believe. its just a matter of being able to afford going to a beautician once or twice a week. you should look for a ceramic flat iron that doesnt get too hot, so as not to burn your hair...maybe one that has a set temperature, and doesnt go beyond that. also, if you cant afford a beautician, maybe you can just talk to one and get some advice. good luck.

I think your sides/temples are bald due to damage from relaxing, straightening, braiding, hot combing and flat ironing.. You've stated that you don't do any of those things to your temples anymore, but reversing the damage you've done in the past takes some time. It does not go away after not relaxing or frying it for a few months.

Your hair needs some tender loving care, freedom from heat and a vacation from the chemicals (all over - not just the temples)

I have short hair also. First when my hair is wet I use mousse, then red-ken rewind 06 its a paste. Then let your hair dry a little and apply a small amount of molding wax. After that style and apply a little more wax. Try that. GOOD LUCK

try using conditioner. Any will do. Some nice, inexpensive brands are Dove Conditioner, Oasis, Suave.

Leave it in for 60 seconds, then rinse. Comb your hair out, and then make sure you put in some mousse with protectant, or even some straightener serum. Frizz Eaze sells great mousse and straightener serum for a low price. Bursh your hair out again, and then either let it naturally dry, or use a flat iron to straighten it out. Maybe even scrunch it. =)

Get her hair combed in the back by someone who knows how to cut hair with one of the combs with blades in it, it does not hurt, and it is used to thin out hair. You could shampoo and condition it then curl or straighten it, especially for pictures!

EDIT: Buy some detangler for her hair!! Then comb it out, or you could get her hair wet then brush it, makes it easier.

Or try squirting water on your baby's hair with a seltzer bottle and try to comb from there. Good luck! Do not brush!!! You'll seriously damage your hair. And it'll hurt really bad!

Good job leaving the conditioner in, that will loosen the knots and make your hair slippery. If you didn't put very much in, get back in the shower and coat it on really well and work it into the knots. While you have the conditioner in get a wide-toothed comb and start working through it. Once you get it worked out a little bit then switch to a finer-toothed comb. It'll take time but the conditioner should help.

You could also buy a detangling spray, those sometimes help, although your best bet is doing what you're doing with the conditioner.

Once you get the knots worked through get back in the shower and rinse out all the conditioner really well, because at this point you'll have a TON in your hair! Good luck, I feel your pain!

Try Spray N Play by Big Sexy Hair. It can be a little stiff, but it will hold anything up! It's probably cheapest to buy it on ebay, because it will cost you around $20 in the salon.

Add Rachel Bilson-like oomph to the old-fashioned way. Francky weas by steam rollers. Dry your hair, and wrap a few top layers around the curlers. After a few minutes take them out. Seal with a curl, and spritz of hair spray. and poof!- voluminous locks.

MY TIP (not GL'S):

Buy larger rollers, like 2-3 inches in diameter. When your hair is wet, put the top layer in rollers (thin layers) (hair too short? go for small rollers, but only rap them around twice.... you want oomph, not curl....

BUT for any of you out there who want celebrity curly hair:

Let your hair dry naturally, Wrap layers around a large barrek, hair ironer; curl the hair starting at the top.

p.s if they turn out very expensive for you you can design your own and fiend some one to make it for you , and if you do not have time , you can just buy a normal (hard) suit casse that can fit into the aireplan there is a legal size that can take all your stuff you have to make sure from the vendor that this can go into the plain , buy or get spongy sheets , i am not sure this is the right word in english but they are very cheap and you can fiend it in any do it your self store or stores for crafts men , role each item in them so they do not bang together , by the way you can inssure( i mean contact an insurance traveling compagny ) your suit casse if your items are too much to be but in the legal size case , because i do not know with all the razors and wepons you will be carrying they will not freak out this days !

so just wrap every thing carefully , put it in a professional casse or just a hard casse , make the insurance and let them put this big sticker of fragile on it

The serum she is talking about is JOhn Freida Frizz Ease Serum. Almost every drugstore brand carries a serum though, so you can also try Garnier Sleek and Smooth serum, Thermasilk, ect. Also you might benefit from a cream gel. Shampoo AND cond. first. Just a dime size of conditioner. This will help alot with the roughness of the cuticle. Then when out of the shower and hair is still damp, apply a cream gel. This will give the strong hold of a gel but offer a softness frizz-taming effect of a cream. Just use a small amount and run it lightly through your hair. Dont comb hair, just shake fingers throughout it, and let it dry in its natural wave pattern. This should do it. But you can always experient with different waxes, puttys and mousses. Sally Beauty Supply or just plain old Walmart will have everything you need. Good luck:)

I have hair that sounds like yours only mine is a little longer. I use Dove Replinishing Mist when it is wet and It helps to comb it out and prevents breakage. If you want to wear it with a little curl in it I suggest getting the Totally Twisted Mousse by Herbal Essences. (it's in the purple bottle). It doesn't make your hair feel heavy and it will help to keep it from looking dry and frizzy. If you want to straighten it, get a straightener with ceramic plates. That will keep your hair from frying. Also, before you straighen while the hair is still damp you can use a leave in creme by Thermasilk (I'm not sure what it is called right off the bat, im at work and I can't look). Another product I use when straightening my hair is a spray that prevents the hair from frying. It is by Herbal Essances also in a pink bottle and it's called Straighten Out. A shaved head can be sexy for a man loosing his hair. Wear it with confidence and it will definitely be accepted. If you wish, you can shave it low on the back and sides so that it would be neat and still very attractive. However, you should never attempt a skullet, comb over or skullet/bandana combination it is not sexy or attractive at all. The confidence with accepting that your hair is thinning out will shine through and people will actually respect that and you will most certainly feel better about yourself.

I am looking for a better product to help with tangles and brushing. What products do you use/like? Do you know any good places to look around online for such things?

My yorkie has ideal silky coat and I am using a a professional shampoo, conditioner and detangler but it's just not doing the trick as well as I think it should.

I wash and condition once to twice a week depending on how dirty/ tangly she gets. I comb her out using the detangling spray once to twice a day and re-do her top knot every morning. I think my grooming schedule is good so I am assuming it's the products that are preventing her from having the tangle free coat she deserves, but if you think it may be the schedule let me know what might work better.

I think the detangler is your problem. It's actually not good to keep applying that stuff, I only use it BEFORE a bath to get the knots out. Leaving it in her hair is just creating extra 'stuff' that binds the hair together. In the future, use it to brush her out before baths, and after baths try to avoid using anything.

I suggest a wire slicker brush and fine tooth metal comb for Yorkies, if you don't use those already.

It sounds like you're doing a good job, so I agree that your product use is probably the culprit and not your schedule.

A good way to treat your "fried" hair is to deep condition it although professional conditioners can help but doing it at home works better and you can condition it to your degree.

Egg Conditioner (my personal favorite hair care conditioner)

1 teaspoon of baby oil

1 egg yolk

1 cup water

Directions:

Beat the egg yolk until it's frothy, add the oil then beat again. Add to the water. Massage into scalp and hair. Let soak 1-3 minutes. Rinse well.

Trust me it works very well the ingredients may seem a little odd but it works a lot better then the expensive over the counter treatments!

yeh the blow drying works too, i have straight flat hair but like sometimes when i want it to be big i use the Dove hair volumizer shampoo, it actually really helps. or i guess any volumizer shampoo would work, when you're washing your hair just leave the shampoo in your hair for about 5 minutes then rinse it off, then after i shower i pat my hair with a towel then blow dry it upside down. when your hair is dry it should look bigger than usual. it works for me, you should try. =)

What I do is focus on the roots teasing it very lightly and adding a light...i mean really light amount of hair spray.If you just tease it a little it gives you an effect of more volume without the knoted look.if you make it too poofy for your taste you can always lightly comb the top layer also theres always clip in extentions if all else fails

i wouldn't attempt the neglect method. I'd actually advise you to start them out by twisting them in sections applying beeswax until they start to lock, it can take about 2 weeks.
