I know! I have to deal with the same exact situation! Just do your hair yourself first, and when she try to do yours, tell her that you don't want french braids. It's the only way.

I'll let her do it and have it her way, and then once out of the house, redo my hair the way i want to. It's simple, that way everyone is happy:-D and i will remain the good daughter.

I would definitely not like it. Even if you are only 14, you still should be able to pick your own hair style, for God's sake.

I would talk to her about it and then do some styles on the weekend. She will see your taste and maybe like it and back off. I waited for my daughter to want to do her hair ;-b all the way through high school, not everyday, but very often . A little independence would have been nice, but then who would she have to blame if it doesn't turn out well. I took more pressure that I needed to. Your mom doesn't realize how lucky she is that her daughter is growing up and doing her own hair grooming : ) I would be proud of you

Well i would worry. Firstly i am a man and secondly i am 39 so i would call her a doctor. But seriously i would maybe make up a story like 'people making fun of me at school calling me a baby and pulling my braids -i couldn't see who it is cause they do it from behind my back so i can't tell you who it is but it upsets me so much. Can i try myself today, if you show me how to do it at least i can say i did it myself and if you want you can do it at the weekends instead.' If that doesn't work- Get A Brittany - just kidding.

I would say Mom you are going to far and she is not giving you the space . I would have a chat with her and be cool when you do . I can feel how this could embarrassing to you .

talk to her, now a days a mother who still wants to take time to do her 14 yr olds hair is rare now a days. she seems to think that they are close,so i would tell her it bugs me
