Untangling wet hair, a question for hairdressers?

If you try to take tangles out of wet hair it shouldn't be done using a brush. Am I right? Should it be done by a comb?

My mom is a hairdresser and she uses this untangling spray with a comb. Works really good. You can get the spray at your local beauty supply.

Comb

Yes a wide tooth comb. Leave in conditioner also helps.

Use a comb, and work from the roots upwards.

Try putting a bit of conditioner with water in a spray bottle as a detangler.

Don't rub your hair vigorously with a towel, squeeze it instead

I have hair almost to my waist. In the shower when the conditioner is in your hair.... LOTS of conditioner, use a detangling comb. (I like the one sold by Avon) and be sure to start at the bottom.

I have long hair and hairdressers always use a comb on my hair. However the degree of thickness of the tines she uses vary on the wetness of the hair.

Firstly use a conditioner, should help you to detangle really easily... the best way is to smooth out the tangles with your fingers and then run a wide toothed comb, make sure to dont comb too vigourously, from the roots, else, the oil secretions could make your hair really limp

I'm not a hair dresser but my best friend's mom is, so I get a lot of great advise from her.

First off, take out wet tangles using a comb. Using a brush is faster but can damage hair, not a lot though.

When conditioning hair, comb it through. It helps take out tangles and keeps hair smooth.

IM A HAIR DRESSER!!!!

no not really, but i no this one lol

i use a brush but yes combs are better and do not pull out as much hair. hair is weaker wen it's wet 2 so b extra careful.

I use a wide tooth comb because it is apparently supposed to help your hair stop breaking.

Firstly make sure you use a conditioner,

Secondly you can use a brush but it is easier with a wide toothed comb.

Thirdly section the hair and start from the bottom of the hair working up to the scalp, tangles will come out easily and painlessly.

If your my client i would analyze the texture of you hair . Then direct you to a better conditioner to use in the mean time not that store bought brand mass produced products.Try placing the conditioner first on to the hair dry than rinse and repeat. I would tell you that it shouldn't matter but in this case i would comb your hair with a wide tooth comb.Avoid any products containing alcohol .Use more of a styling cream gel.

You should use a conditioner and most importantly you should try to comb your hair from the bottom of the nape of your neck and work up slowly.

Most people will put a brush or a comb to the side or crown of the head and try to comb straight down, this only causes more tangles and hair damage as the hair stretches when wet and will break.

Give it a go you will be surprised how better it is.

use a wide toothed comb

Firstly, you should never use a brush on wet hair as when wet, your hair is more 'elastic' and brushing will stretch your hair and cause breakage, splits and stress.

A wide-toothed comb (also known as a basin comb) is what you should use everytime you have wet hair. The tines (teeth) of the comb are far enough apart not to put any tension on the hair shaft and also, depending on what you may be continuing on with, conditioner is not always a good idea as it closes the hair shaft, so if you were to apply a colour or you were going for a perm it would not take as your hair shaft needs to be open. Hope this helps........*wink*

use a wide tooth comb, always start at the ottom and move your way up.

Try using a spray leave in conditioner on the ends, this should help.

Hi yes your suppose to use a comb but I find them very hair to use as I have thick hair and it hurts. even when I use a leave in conditioner. So I just use a normal brush and make sure I have it smooth before I do out with it

use an Affro comb (they have wide teeth) and never pull the hair
