Can I get a haircut after chemically straightening my hair?

I wanted to get a haircut- because my hair was unruly (very curly blonde thin hair) and since it was so curly I thought that if I cut it shorter- it would become even more curlier. My hair reaches about four inches past my shoulders- and I want to cut it to a length of right above my ear. My question is - is it safe to do this? I know that it is not safe to cut your hair BEFORE straightening it- but is it safe to cut it AFTER? If I can cut my hair safely I will- and then I can get the look I want with it but I don't want to do something that will put it in jeopardy. It has not been falling out (any more than before I straightened it- I was very careful with the process) But I am also afraid to comb it now that the bonds are split apart. So my question summed up is this- is it safe for me to get a haircut?

um, whoever told you that you can't cut your hair before having it straightened was lying to you. it is safe for you to get a haircut before and after a relaxer.

p.s. don't do relaxers at home anymore. thats not good at all.

my mom went for a haircut, and she cut it first then the hairdresser straitened it, nothing happened... maybe not exactly for chemically, ask the hairdresser...
