she has been sent home from school with nits and i have treated her and cleaned the home "thurowly". I dont know how to get them out. it looks like dandruff to me but the school says different. i want to get them out. I have never seen any bugs. what can i do. she cannot go back to school until they are out. please help me!!
you can tell if they are nits and not dandruff by taking a shaft of hair that has one on it and running your fingers over the flake. If it moves, it's dandruff, if it does not move and feels like a tiny grain of sand it's a nit
here's the kicker - you CANNOT remove nits with a nit comb no matter what the product says... the comb will only remove the biggest or hatched nits....
you will HAVE to remove the nits by hand.
Wash your daughter;s hair, put her in her favourite compfy pj's, lay a large folded towel on the coffee table for her to lay her head on and pop her favourite movie in the dvd player so she can watch it.
carefully take your nit comb and divide her hair in skinny parts, all the while taking your fingernails and running them through the hairs where you see either dandruff or nits....
it's time consuming, it's tiring and its rough, but you can do it
at the end, slather your daughters hair with olive oil and run your fingers through it to spread it out... lice DO NOT like dirty hair. put a shower cap on your daughter and let her sleep like that.
repeat this for at least 4 - 6 nights.
lice breed over a 2 week period, so use the shampoo as directed, but between the shampoos, do like i said up there and you will get rid of them.
ps.... lice are NOT dirty, never let your daughter think she or any of her friends have done something wrong.... every kid gets them at one time or another.
after her ordeal, take her out for a really nice treat like a shopping spree where she can spend 10 dollars however she likes or whatever...

Go to a drug store and get a special metal comb used for removing nits.

As gross as it may sound, if you can't get them out with a knit comb and you have already tried using a dandruf shampoo to rule that out, try picking them out with your gloved finger nails. Good luck.

easy answer. just hop in tub with her and a large comb. continue combing hair while under water and shampooing same time. this will do the trick. turn water off as u do this it may take longer than u anticipate. since u two are in there bathing together has always been a bonding experience between mother and child. you might also have "the talk" with her. SHE WILL LOVE YOU. its the only way so good luck.
Try vegetable oil.... its an old farm remedy. saturate her hair and use the fine tooth come to detangle it. after 20 minutes wash it out a few times. Her hair will shine like crazy and be well conditioned, clean and should be nit free.
If you don't trust that they have a comb at Walmart that beeps when it finds a nit. Costs about $20.00. The school I retired from used tit to check students hair after returning once sent home with nits/lice
Buy a steel nit comb from the chemists. Hair conditioner combed through the hair is a tip that nurses give.When you comb the conditioned hair,the nits find it too slippy to stay on. Tea tree oil is a good preventer. Use it on the hair every week
I would NOT put gasoline on my child's head. That is toxic and can burn her skin and eyes. Then you'll be making a trip to the hospital and have to explain how your daughter got gasoline in her eyes. Not fun, or smart.
The drug store should have a nit/lice comb that is extrememly fine toothed. That comb should help to get them out. Another home remedy (I'm not sure if it works or not) is to put mayonaise on her scalp and let it sit for awhile. Dunno what it does exactly but I was told it will kill lice, and help get the nits out. (At least it's not toxic.) I think I'd do more homework on that though before I tried it. What a mess, especially if she has longer hair. Yuck! Good luck!!

When my kids were little they were sent home with lice and I also had a problem getting out the nits.The school nurse told me to put Crisco shortening in their hair and let it sit for 15 to 20 minutes then comb using a nit comb.This is a messy job,but it worked great. The nits came right out.

what i did was go where there is alot of light my case it was summer so i went out side.you have to keep secctioning her hair and using the comp then rince after each swipe the comb i took each trand of hair that had a nit or egg and pulled it off with my finger nails its very time consuming. i also would ask the pharmasist because i thought once treated it can leave dead eggs so i would check with the doctor if the school keeps saying other wise. also spray furnature wask bedding put stuffed animals in a plastic bad not sure how long to keep them in there..hope i could help good luck!

After you have shampooed the hair with the treatment , or special shampoo, then you have to just towel dry.....Let daughter sit on floor betwen your legs while you watch a show together........You have to take almost every strand of hair, one at a time, and take your nail and bring the hair in between your fingers and scrape the hair with your nail...(.I hope this sounds right) You will see little white nits attached to the hair strand..(these are lice eggs not hatched). They will not be attached to every hair strand, but quite a few...They are hard to see sometimes.........Have a damp wash cloth across your lap to wipe the nits on.............This may take and hour or two......After one hour let you and child rest for 10 minutes, then continue...
After you are finished, throw away rag in garbage can...........
You also have to change bed clothing of your daughters or wherever she laid her head......Wash down her bedroom with a gallon of water to 1 capful of bleach...Or Lysol...You will have to put all stuff animals in plastic bags and tie shut for 4-5 days...
Any extra throw pillows go in bag too.......Try to keep all of her clothes and linens seperate when washing and drying.....
The school nurse should have showed you what they looked like and how to get them out..........If she gets them again then you have to insist that she got them from another student again, or on the bus or somewhere..They should clean buses and classrooms! Good luck hon.......Oh and the last time, we were told to rinse the hair in vegetable oil...........(stay in bathroom) keep on hair wraped in plastic wrap carefully away from eyes, for 1 hour....the oil suffocates them and they cannot breathe and die..........Then shampoo out with "DAWN" Then wash with regular shampoo and no conditioner......Or very little ..

i always pulled them out with my fingernails and then dipped my finger in hot water to remove it. then the water gets flushed and the toilet bleached. just slide them off the hair shaft.
my daughter visited her dad every weekend for a while and every two weeks for almost a year i had to clean her hair. once i threatened him with making him pay for everything to clean it up he finally stopped bringing her to the place she was getting them from. i was spending almost 120 dollars a month. at the time i was using a laundry mat.
so although i know it takes a while to remove them all, it's worth taking that time to make sure you get them all. the combs never get all of them.

Put mayonaise in their hair, wrap their head in saran wrap overnight ( do this before they go to bed) next morning use a fine tooth comb to comb it out, and then wash their hair.
This will suffocate them and then it's just a matter of combing and washing them out.
First you need to again wassh in hot water sheets,pillowcases-all of her bedding----there is a spray you can get that is agains lice which I've sprayed in rooms with windows open but door closed so for 3-4hrs no one especially PETS is allowed in the prayed room-no need to soak but lightly spraying carpet drapes-open closet and spray lightly onto clothes hanging and same with drawers. Then phone your Pediatrician or go to him/her for pediatrician can prescribe that kills lice and nits but safe for the child(Feel for you for went through this and was also frustrated so took to Doctor for help) once you've done this treatment the NIT Comb with wire teeth instead of all plastic(Has double teeth) is much better and gets all the nits also bght where you usually get lice stuff or have Pharmacist give you most effective one. After the treatment and it is tedious for just about have to do strand by strand paying very close attention to the hairline behind the ears and the nape-back of the neck hairline for thats where you'll find nits the most. Then Shampoo her hair with her regular shampoo and rinse very well--I used the Kitchen sink sprayer(can clean sink with diluted bleach after) t=so I can direct the spray to thoroughly rinse the hair. Then as a added Precaution and it also restores hair to normal PH(conditions hair but also acidic so use 1tablespoon to 1 cup lukewarm water of BROWN Vinegar and leave in the hair--the vinegar smell will go away in approx15min or less) It sometimes takes 2-3 treatments , It is essential that no lice be missed in the house esp all the areas she is in the most. You can also,for its a chore to wash all , leave things in dryer on high setting-those that can be and I dampened a bit-for it is heat that kills but using the Spray for Lice is very effective-if you have pets I advise giving them a good wash and rinse too for lice like blood and they'll get on them too.The last time the little girl(was staying with me for awhile)was sent home from school I did the doctor prescribed treatment, then took Mayonnaise and put thickly on her hair so all strands were coated for the Mayonnaise I was told suffocates anything in the hair and on the scalp for it blocks air flow-also again be sure to really pay attention to back of neck hairline and even on neck and the same with by the ears-i even put on back esp,the ears and wrapped hair up in towel fo adds heat then after approx1 hour I rinsed off-may have to shampoo hair lightly to get the oil in mayonnaise and the smell out THEN I put the leave-in Vinegar(Must be Brown) diluted solution and left on the hair. Note:Th Mayonnaise also conditions hair esp if a bit dry esp if its mayo that has olive oil in it. After I did all of this and may seem a lot but did all for had to get rid of lice for was foster child and diidn't want her to be made fun of. First time I dealt with this and was horrified when I saw these bugs in her hair and since I promised I wouldn't cut hair absolutely had to keep my promise--these kids have very little faith in promises. Anyway all ended well and good luck.
You have to pick them out one by one with your fingernails or tweezers. there is no easy way. Some people say the new electronic lice comb works; can't remember the name but it's sold at walmart for about 22 dollars
My daughter had this problem last year her doctor told me after the lice treatment put olive oil on there and wrap it up for 3 hours and then take nit comb and magnifying glass and pull them out by the way nit are sort of glued like to each hair were dander is not good luck hope this helps.
Use distilled vinegar and leave it for like 15 minutes! Rinse it well and comb again with the lice comb! They have an electronic lice detector comb out and that will tell you if they are all out!! Good luck!!

you are putting pesticides on her head and thats not good. go to www.licemeister.org and you can order a comb for about $10. they will also send a little paper telling you what to look for. maybe you can share the paper with your school to be sure they know what to look for. anything the comb wont get out you will need to pick out by hand. natural light is best for seeing the little buggers. blowdry her hair everytime she washes it heat helps kill bugs. comb her hair w/licemeister often to make sure she hasnt gotten them again. remember now that she has had them shes more likely to get them again. note-lice are not dirty animals they like clean people. when they check her head at school stand over them and question what they find. good luck note-you can buy a concentrated tea tree oil at your local walgreens. you add a few drops to your reg. shampoo. helps keep them away.
My six years old had them for nearly half a year every time i got rid of them they made their way back anyway i finely found away to stop them that was using a normal conditioner put it in her hair while it was dry the first time left it in their for an hour or so cause the more water in the hair wont help cause it makes their ends close up and nothing will work then wash it out combed it then the next evening i wet the hair and used the conditioner again washed out like you would normally do in the shower then combed it i did that for about a week every nite and it worked the key is to comb it all the time and use conditioner instead of the other crap cause it don't work
as stupid as this sounds after you use a "nit " comb you can buy at a local drug store and wash her hair with regular shampoo and conditioner comb her hair again then take a spray bottle mixed 1/4 rubbing alcohol and 3/4 water and spray hair then go through again with nit comb. each day spray your daughters hair with this rubbing alcohol mist and she will never get nits again..they will not jump to her hair..my children have never gotten it and i soak all my combs and brushes in alcohol and water during "lice season" and spray their hair with the spray every morning..good luck and don't feel bad about this anyone can get lice but also anyone can avoid it

You don`t need any special clippers, All you need to do is put a grade 1 on your clippers and there should be an adjuster leaver on the side of the clipper head, if you move it up and down it adjusts the blade setting by 0 - 0.5 there for giving you a 1.5.

I got my hair relaxed about 3 weeks ago and the hairdresser didn't really tell me how i'm supposed to take care of it.
After I wash it I towel dry it a little bit and its curly like it was before, then I comb it, oyt some pomade thingy in it and wrap it(wet), blow dry it and leave it like that for a while. The next day its straight-ish so I go over it with my straightening irons and it comes out okay. I was just wondering if i'm doing properly or not?

well i have relaxed hair and what i do is wash my hair once a week. after i codition then i put something by aveda on it. then i blow dry. then i put silk infusion on it and i flat iron or curl it and spray something for shine. evey now and then i let my hair air dry. but if this is not enough for you ask your hair stylist

It sounds like the chemical relaxing didn't take. You shouldn't have to go through all that.
With relaxed hair you suppose to wait about 3 weeks to wash it.
* Relaxers reduce the protein content in your hair thereby changing the texture; you need to ensure that the sustenance comes from elsewhere. So follow a healthy diet rich in proteins and vitamins like green vegetables and soybeans.
* Avoid any exposure to heat such as a blow dryer or a ironing machine. Processed or relaxed hair has chemical content and if exposed to heat, it will definitely dry and then start breaking. This will be a quick process, giving you very little time to repair the damage. So make sure your hair is not subject to any heat.
* Wash your relaxed hair at least twice a week. The water will add moisture to your hair, which in turn will add vitality and strength to your hair. In fact you can wash it 9without shampoo) as often as you like, but let it air dry, don't rub with a towel or use a blow dryer.
* Relaxed hair needs to be touched up after a bit, when you go to get that done, apply some preconditioner on your hair so that it acts a barrier and the chemicals don't get aggravated leading to extreme dryness or brittle hair.
* Use conditioners and other moisturizers as recommended by your stylist, because relaxing robs your hair of the natural moisturizers, you need to ensure that you replenish that somehow and hence conditioning is essential. Deep condition your hair at least twice a month.
* Tie your hair into a bun or wrap a scarf around it before sleeping at night. Also use a satin pillow, as this will help prevent hear breakage.
If you choose to color your hair while it is relaxed, use only semi permanent hair colors. All permanent hair color contains some level of peroxide that can damage your hair.

With my relax hair I do not use heated hair appliances to it. I wet set my hair. Too much heat causes the hair to dry out and become brittle and break off. I hope you are using some kind of heat protective on your hair first.
I use rollers and a bottle of setting lotion roll it up and then the next day I have a great smooth, shinny, soft curls that last all day until I roll it back up at night.
You are suppose to wrap up your hair at night with a silk or satin scarf.

Keeping it reasonably short is usually best. You don't have to shave it, but if it's cut with trimmers on about 1/2 inch all over (or even 3/4 inch) you may find that looks better.

I have seen haircuts that are amazing that look like the back hair is brushed forward as well as whatever hair ya have and they can do excellent hairstyles. Just ask ahead of time to get someone who specializes in thin hair. I am a woman who is hopefully not balding, but I, like my mother have always sought out hair dressers who know thin hair.

don't shave it just yet, there's rogane or you could buy the wal-mart brand which is cheaper but it has the same active ingredient. it's about 40 dollars for three bottles each bottle lasting a month. there's also a pill called propecia which yes does effect a small percentage of males sex drives but the effects are not permanent so I guess it's worth a shot if you want to keep some hair on your head. otherwise I hear there are also some surgeries where they take skin that grows hair somewhere else on your body and graft it on your scalp. It's probably the hardest route but I was say the most effective.

before you put the hair in your head wash and comb it thru with conditioner. Blow dry and wear. I cant guarantee that it won't shed but at least it won't shed as much.
Try to get a texture of hair(weave) that is closest to your texture. It will look natural.

You are always going to lose some. Spend more time gently combing it. I had extensions and I shed like a sheep dog. It ended up everywhere. I had natural hair, but I am white. the asian hair was too thick and coarse, but european hair was good for a white girl. I've seen black girls with european hair that looked fantastic.
Quality hair sheds less. Otherwise... there's no way to stop that. Again, best hair I've used is Remi, especially Remi Goddess. Beverly Johnson has been good to me, too.
Try not to comb it, brush it. How long have you had it in? Sometimes if it needs to be taken out some strands will come out. I can't remember the name, but you remember the singer Brandy, she has some weave out and it has her picture on the front, it is some good hair, and it's not that expensive i think i got 18inch for about $15-$20, and it looks and feels great.
You need to comb carefully. Hold the hair close to the weft or tracks. If you can find Samoan hair, that is closest to AA hair.
Have a hair sytlist try a stronger glue. I wouldn't recommend sewin them in your hair, that causes major breakage to your hair.
Try the new clips that bond the hair when apply with heat.

when i get my hair wet and shapoo it I cant run my fingers though and it feels like maple syrup untill I run conditioner though it and wash it out then it feels discusting untill i dry it and then comb though it.

Im not much of a hair person my hair is the same way so here goes nothing....uh have you tried curlers the night before?? because you said you hair straightens out fast curlers will make your hair really curly but it will straighten out and one more thing LOTS OF HAIRSPRAY!!!!!!!!!
ok well, you need a good curling iron and a good hold. i use moose from herbal essances. I put it on each piece that i am going to curl and i have a cruling iron that has htis like spiral type thing and you put your hair accually like in it. and it makes the shape really good. then hairspray each curl when you release it from the curling iron. and NO HANDS don't touch it after its cruled it will go flat in a matter of minutes.

Wear them ALL NIGHT right before the dance, and trust me it will stay for about 24 hours!!! It works well. I hope it works on you cause my hair is the same as yours and ya it worked on me

curlers work....but what my friend does who has really straight hair is wet hair and apply gel and just make a few braids in her hair and leave it over night then in the morning she takes them off and waa laa she has curly/wavy hair...

you know your hair better than me, so you chose which method would be the most successful. There are several ways you can do this, and i think this process would make a more define curl:
While your hair is wet, put them in curlers. If you don't have any curlers when you buy them, make sure you buy them according the the size, texture, and thickness of your hair. Then, blow dry your hair while they're inthe curlers or if you have one of those overhead hair dryers put that on high heat on your hair for like 15-20 min. When they are completely, dry, shiny, and smooth hair spray the girls, and remove the curlers. They're going to be loose ringlets, if that's what you want hair spray it more. But, if you want them tighter, go over them with a curling iron. Make sur e you leave the curling iron on your hair for like 10 seconds, and let the hair go and hairspray again.
Tip** to confirm good results, use small pieces of hair, take your time, and do it the day before.

I've asked countless people this question. My hair breaks easily and so it sticks out all over. I don't rub it with a towel, I use a thick toothed comb when it's wet, I put it in a ponytail when it's windy, I use conditioner, I deep condition once every other week. I've tried so many shampoos that claim they will work and nothing does. I've tried straightening and blow drying it but I'm not a fan of killing my hair with heat. I've tried hairspray. Within an hour after hairspray it sticks out all over again. I take a multi vitamin and eat healthily, it's not a nutritional issue... any ideas?? Help would be most appreciated.
my hair is naturally curly and therefore naturally frizzy.. I use Redken All soft shampoo and conditioner and a mousse . I dont comb it at all (i use a pick) unfortunately being in a ponytail is most likely whats causing it to break so much.. (have you tried using the ponytail holders that dont have metal in them.. i think theyre called ouchless or something like that walmart has them) i started using them and my hair breaks alot less now.. also try using a leave in conditioner. (aussie makes a decent one .) so does redken if you want to pay that much
hairspray it down, use smoothing get or straighening shampoo, or pin it down while its wet and let it dry like that
ok u will have to use a hair wax and by using this . it will make the hair slick down and stay in place. if u are wearing ur hair straight, apply the hair wax first then use a flat iron, hot comb, whatever u use to straighten. this will help alot but when u are putting it in just add enough where u want it a the most
try either antifrizz, hair serum, leave in conditioner, also they have products to protect against heat styling.. dont have to try all at same time then use the products you normally use to do your hair.
pomade can help its like a hair wax...i use it on my ends...but dont use it 2 much it will make ur hair sticky and oily
put your head up side down and spray hairspray from bottm to top on both sides. but not to make it stiff. than your hair should be flat all day long!

I am trying not to put heat to my hair and just wash it, but if it gets nappy what should I do without perming it or using the hot comb?
It's really hard to keep your hair from napping when you don't want to use heat. To keep your hair moisturized use a leave-in conditioner, the Olive Oir brand works very well. Moisterized hair napps less. Also you can brush your hair when it's 70-80% dry with a blow dryer on low heat. I find, personally, that after shampooing and putting in moisterizer to use a wide tooth comb to comb out my hair from the roots in the shower. This prevents the napps from getting really bad when I get out and it's dry. Hope that helps!

I can only recommend you Dark %26amp; Lovely hair products and after washing your hair with it, putting a leave-in conditioner and letting your hair dry for several days attached until it actually is dry and finally straightening it with a good quality hair straightener. It has worked 100% for a friend of mine, who has very frizzy/dry/thick/long hair.

first of all, don't dry your hair, it will just make it more frizzy. they make a curl enhancer by pantene, and it's kind of a mouse cream kind of stuff.... towel dry your hair and rub it in.
ther'es also a GREAT product called BIOSilk. Amazing stuff...... I have very thick, coarse hair, and if i don't use this stuff, it will stand up on it's own... i love it. it makes it very soft, and makes my waves very defined. they make the full line of products, but just use the treatment. if ytou use all the line, it kind of makes your hair feel gummy.... and only use a TINY bit of it, rub it into your hands, then run your hands thru your hair until the shiny is gone off of your hands. i would recommend this stuff to ANYONE... :P good luck!!!

Mousse will give your hair the wet look you desire. To make it softer use a conditioner for curly hair, it will provide softness and will make it easier to comb.

I want my own unique style, that is a sorta punkish emoish style. I wear mostly dark jeans, not tight but not too loose (from American Eagle) with white, black, and grey shirts (mostly from a variety of stores). My favorite shirt is a dark grey one with a black eagle on it and some other stuff.
I need help with a cool hair style to fit it, without getting it too radical (I'm only 13). Currently, i have thick hair that just barely covers my ears. It is dirty blond colored, and I don't want to dye it because my parents wouldn't let me. Suggestions would be nice.
Currently, I've been experimenting on weekends with putting some gel in my hair, combing my left side of my hair over my left eye (but it doesn't cover my eye) and the other side is loosely combed forward. However, it doesn't stay in place all day, just for a few hours, but if I put too much gel, it gets all hard and when it eventually goes away, my hair looks all greasy. Suggestions?
You can try using styling wax, you can find a huge variety in stores to cover any need. use it as the suggest and then mix your hair the same way you'd do when coming out of the shower or the sea. It would come out with a result of messy tornado blown hair that could be adjusted to your needs. The good thing is that you can have it simple when leaving home and with a touch give it the look you want and then before going back home finger comb them backwards to be as your parent want you to.
You can add pins and a nice punkish belt to your outfit, so that it has a more personal style but not too extreme due to your age. Have fun, hope i helped

you can buy stuff that say's leave in conditioner on the bottle or just leave in some of your regular conditioner.
it still won't look wet when it dries but you will get rid of the the puff and it leaves you with soft defined curls ...good luck

Ceramic flat irons don't damage your hair if you use them within reason (i.e., not every day, not on wet hair, not on already damaged hair). They can straighten any hair type if you do it properly.
I relax my hair but a ceramic hair straightener does really straighten mine. I love my hair straightened.

Well, you have time. First of all, if you're going to change the color, you want to do that about 2 weeks before the wedding. I wouldn't recommend a drastic change either, you'll freak people out. Book an appointment with a stylist who can do updos, not all can. Tell them when you're booking the appointment that you need ideas for your hair for your wedding day, you might also want to pick someone who is also available to do it on your wedding day, it would be a bummer to decide how you want it done with one stylist, only to have her say she's not available to do it the day of the wedding. Take in a picture of your gown, and your actual headpiece if you can--it will really help. I would book several hours as well, so you can have her put your hair up in different styles, and see what you like best. Also, look through magazines, etc., and cut out pictures of what you like. why don't you go to salons and try out wedding day hairstyles some salons will even offer free hairstyles to brides to be trying hairstyles. just tell them you don't really know what you want to do with your hair and they will work it out with you( it's their job to know what looks best on you) that way you won't be trapped with a hair style you don't like on your wedding day

Quite the reverse actually. There's a split end treatment for long hair that involves twisting the hair and burning off the split ends. Most likely, that part will be healthier!

Use a light leave-in conditioner after you get out of the shower (Garnier Nutrisse has a great one), then when drying your hair, use a round hair brush instead of a flat one (assuming you blow dry your hair).

On the roadshow episode (don't know what city or what year), a young blonde girl gets an appraisal of a painting she found in a dumpster with her mom. The painting is of a lady done in dark colors. The girl notes that items in the painting (clothes, furniture, hair combs) can be used to help date it.
The girl from the roadshow stood out in my mind for being poised and articulate beyond her years. I think she's the same girl from the TLC show with the transgender dad. Does anybody know for sure?

My friend is 5'6 or 168 cms and weighs 60 kgs. She is not thin or fat - somewhere in between, and she is quite pretty. The only problem she has is that her tummy is not flat, it has extra fat on it. She wants to reduce it. Please suggest some ways to make it flat and toned.

Variety of exercise is the key I have found. For example..an exercise called Mountain Climbers. Its from a workout that also contains a section for females and males which is excellent.
Mountain climbers are done by starting in a pushup position
and then shuffling your feet in and out so that your knees are
moving in under your chest and then back out to starting
position. It sort of resembles climbing a mountain but flat on
the floor. If you want an advanced version, you can also shuffle your hands 8-10 inches forward and backward in
addition to the leg movements. This really makes it a full
body exercise and MUCH more difficult than standard mountain climbers.
After finishing each exercise, rest about 30 seconds before
starting the next exercise. Rest about 1-2 minutes after
completing each "tri-set" before repeating.
This will give you one of the best ab workouts you've ever had
without even doing any direct ab exercises. You'll see what I
mean after you try it!
Once you get away from the myth that a 1000 crunches and 500 situps a day is all you need to do for great abs, then amazing results can be seen.

What are the symptoms of extremely coarse nappy hair?
I don't know, I have moderately curled hair that straightens out as it grows longer.
I guess its really coarse if it breaks easily and feels hard and brittle... almost wire like and tightly coiled with little to no shine is really dry... But it can be remedied with softening lotions and changes in diet.
Yes, that's true. Myself, I have type 4a hair. Most black people who are non-mixed have type 4 hair, either "a" or "b". If you have Type 4 hair, your natural hair, or if you're relaxed, the un-relaxed part of your hair, is tightly coiled, or kinky. If you have 4a, your hair is coiled into a "S" pattern, type 4b hair, is coiled into a "Z" pattern. If this doesn't sound like you, you're probably type 3.

I got my hair cut short. ughhh. now it looks like a wild mane. lol but in a funny way. i comb it and it looks okay. but jeez, it's wild. now i can't even put it in a pony tail because of how short it is.

Right now, my hair is very long to my waist. It's straight. I have a few layers at the sides, and bangs. The style itself is exactly like the way singer Stevie Nicks currently wears her hair.
I frequently style it in loose, flowing waves as well. Whenever I do... I always seem to get flirted on more! LOL!

Unfortunately I don't think it would ever be considered Child Abuse. BUT, I am sure it hurt badly. The best way to remove gum from hair or clothing is to use ice. Freeze small amounts at a time and scrape it. If it doesn't involve much hair or is not in a noticeable place, I would remove it by cutting it out. So much easier and less painful. Ice does work. My son thought he ruined a shirt his girlfriend gave him from her workplace after he fell asleep with gum in his mouth. He woke to find the gum all over the front of the shirt. When I had him use a cube of ice he was totally shocked to find how easy it was to scrape the gum off. To this day, she still doesn't know there was ever any gum on the shirt. ;-)

Goodness, no. Maybe if the kid cried and got beat over it, but trying to get gum out is not abuse. It may not have been the best course of action, but that is far from abuse.

No. He should have used baby oil to make it come out better, thus causing little to no discomfort for anyone. Hey, not everyone has all the answers on how to do things ya know. Stuff happens. As long as he gave his kid a hug afterwards, he's being a good dad. What kinda dad would let his kid run around with gum in his hair anyway, huh? At least he cared enough to try. I'm a man who has always had very short hair. Last November I decided to let it go until I couldn't take it anymore - and that time is now. It's about 7 inches in length, full, thick with A LOT of body. If I wash it, comb it, let it dry it turns into an afro!
My barber won't be of help, and I want to know exactly what I want before I approach anyone else considering how long its taken me to get here.

My daughter loves the pool, but her hair feels like straw from all the clorine build up! I have tried vinegar and baking soda, I also tried beer. It softened it up alittle but it is still so hard to comb through? help plz she is tender headed!!!
Use Paul Mitchell's "Shampoo 3". It works really well, and it leaves your hair ready to accept a good conditioner afterward without feeling slimy or rough.
make sure you use conditioner, my hair does that all the time, conditioner will really help, i promise, it makes is nice and soft
Buy the shampoo and conditioner "Malibu 2000." It works wonders!
buy shampoo that is made to get the chlorine out of hair. thats what my friends and i do.
Try a product called ION Swimmer's Shampoo and ION Swimmer's Conditioner. Seen both products at Sally's Beauty Supply Store. There is also a Daily Leave-In Spray made by ION.
are you sure you're using conditioner, it makes your hair soft and silky

Then use a good kids detangler.
hi, i was actually a swimmer for over 10 years, so i know what she feels like, it makes your hiar so hard to comb, and looking dead.
i found a product that i used after every practice and meet, and found that it works pretty well. they no longer make the shampoo, but the company does make a conditioner, that i assume must be just as good. here is a link for it, and i hope it helps.

ok, this morning I woke up and took a shower. I use Ivory Bar Soap when I shower.
After that, I got dressed, brushed my teeth, hair dried by hair, combed it, etc and went downstairs as fast as I could. Me and my father had to drop off my mother and sister at my uncle's house.
When everyone got in the car, my sister made a comment. My sister told me that I smell like a drunk pine tree.
Why do you think she said that? Is it the soap I used? Is it the deodorant I used? Has this ever happened to you? How can I stink minutes after taking a shower?
I use Ivory Bar Soap. I use Speed Stick (Regular) deodorant. I wasn't wear a cologne or aftershave.
Are they a bad combination ? Has this happened to anyone?

Just kidding...maybe you should try a stronger deodorant or it could be your clothes. Make sure your clothes smell good also, and clean your wash cloth or whatever you wash up with regularly or switch it every couple days. But if this has only happened once, maybe it was something in the car that stunk and not you. Serisouly, I'm not really sure but it's never happened to me.

how old is your sister??? if she's like three, you know, her comment didnt' even matter. if not, have you smelled yourself??? so you smell bad? i know sometimes you need an outside perspective, but you WILL know if you are smelling. i have never heard that phrase before, so if someone said that to me, i wouldn't freak out, i don't think you should either. from the sound of it, you are a clean guy, and i don't know for sure, but i really don't think you stink.
Mens deodorant tend to be really strong when they are first applied. I'm guessing that was the smell that offended considering Ivory soap is not a very powerful smell. My husband and I can spend over an hour in the deodorant aisle if he decides to change his deodorant. I am allergic to alot of perfumes (they can affect my breathing or lead to skin rashes) and then there are the ones that just plain stink. So yeah I have had a chance to smell most male deodorants and can tell you first hand they can get mighty smelling and overpowering.
